Food Court

Mobile-friendly restaurant review aggregation site

Our colleagues Turtle Media in Hong Kong approached us to build this mobile-friendly web app.

Foodcourt aggregates reviews of restaurants and presents them as an attractive and highly-accessible database. Hungry users can specify a range of useful search criteria such as district or cuisine, and browse through matching restaurants, comparing reivews and blog entries before choosing the perfect place to make a booking. The bi-lingual, responsive website also incorporates a vibrant food blog and is supported by paid advertising.

This project offered a number of interesting challenges. How would tens of thousands of restaurant reviews from around the Internet be collated and imported into the site? What would be the most user-friendly interface for this information? How could we ensure that users could access the site from as many different devices as possible?  How could we make sure the site was easy to update with fresh information?

Working with the client team, we explored design and architecture options, conducted usability tests, and planned and developed this popular and successful web app.
